There is nothing quite like the feeling of fresh mountain air to clear the mind and spark great conversations. The Consult Group team has officially arrived at PropSki26, and we are already having a phenomenal time. Swapping our usual office attire for salopettes and thermal layers, we have hit the ground running—or rather, skiing.

This event is a massive highlight in our annual calendar. It brings together professionals from across the property and construction sectors for a few days of unparalleled networking. We wanted to share a quick update on our experience so far, highlighting the fantastic people we have met and the brilliant conditions on the mountain.

Read on to discover why the initial meet-and-greet was a resounding success, how the weather is treating us, and why reconnecting with industry peers on the slopes is so valuable for our business.

Kicking Things Off: A Meet-and-Greet to Remember

The success of any networking trip often hinges on the very first evening. We were thrilled to dive straight into the PropSki26 meet-and-greet, which once again proved to be an absolute triumph. These initial gatherings set the tone for the entire week, breaking the ice and getting everyone into a collaborative, friendly mindset.

Walking into a room full of property and construction professionals can sometimes feel daunting. However, the PropSki atmosphere is entirely different. The corporate formalities are left at the door, replaced by a shared excitement for the days ahead. We instantly found ourselves engaged in brilliant conversations, sharing laughs and making plans for the mountain.

Building Authentic Relationships

Traditional networking events often rush the process of getting to know someone. You exchange a business card, deliver an elevator pitch, and move on. The PropSki meet-and-greet strips away this pressure. It allows you to actually get to know the person behind the job title.

We chatted with developers, investors, and fellow consultants in a completely relaxed environment. These authentic interactions lay the groundwork for strong, long-lasting professional relationships. When you start a connection with a genuine, friendly conversation, following up on a potential project back in the UK becomes incredibly easy.

Hitting the Slopes in Fabulous Conditions

You can plan the perfect event, but you can never control the weather. Thankfully, the mountains have delivered for us this year. We spent today skiing in absolutely fabulous conditions. The skies were clear, the visibility was perfect, and the snow was crisp and fast.

Good weather changes the entire dynamic of the trip. It lifts everyone's spirits and makes the whole experience much more enjoyable. There is a collective buzz on the chairlifts and a fantastic energy running through the group as we navigate the different runs.

Sharing the Mountain Experience

Skiing with industry peers is a brilliant leveller. Whether you are an expert carving down black runs or a beginner finding your feet on the nursery slopes, everyone shares the same challenges and triumphs. This shared physical experience builds a unique kind of camaraderie that you simply cannot replicate in a meeting room.

Our team has been making the most of these perfect conditions. We have spent the day guiding new connections down our favourite pistes and enjoying the stunning alpine scenery. Pausing halfway down a mountain to discuss a new construction trend or a sustainability initiative is a surreal but highly effective way to do business.

Reconnecting with Old Friends

While making new contacts is a primary goal of PropSki, strengthening existing relationships is equally important. One of the best parts of our experience so far has been catching up with people we met at last year's event. Seeing familiar faces on the slopes instantly brought back great memories and sparked immediate, warm conversations.

In the construction and property sectors, trust is everything. Building that trust takes time and consistent positive interactions. Returning to PropSki allows us to check in with our industry friends, hear about the progress of their projects, and share updates from Consult Group.

The Value of Long-Term Networking

Attending industry events year after year demonstrates commitment. It shows that we are active, engaged members of the property community. Catching up with last year's attendees proves that the connections made at PropSki are not just fleeting interactions; they are the start of enduring professional partnerships.

We have already had several fantastic discussions with past acquaintances about potential collaborations for the upcoming year. These conversations flow naturally because the foundational relationship was already established on these very slopes twelve months ago.

Forging New Connections in the Snow

Alongside the familiar faces, we have been delighted to meet a whole host of new professionals this year. The property sector is vast and constantly evolving, and PropSki attracts a wonderfully diverse crowd. We have crossed paths with people from all corners of the industry, each bringing their own unique insights and challenges to the table.

We actively encourage our team to branch out and speak to people outside of our immediate discipline. Understanding the pressures faced by a commercial developer or the goals of a green energy investor makes us better consultants. It broadens our perspective and helps us tailor our services to meet the real-world needs of the wider market.

Why Alpine Networking Works

There is a psychological benefit to taking people out of their standard working environment. When you remove the desks, the emails, and the ticking clock, people become much more open and creative. The fresh air and physical activity stimulate the mind, leading to much more engaging and productive conversations.

We have found that people are far more willing to discuss their major business challenges over a hot chocolate at an après-ski bar than they are over a formal Zoom call. This openness allows us to offer genuine advice and explore how Consult Construct, Consult Sustain, or Consult LDN might be able to help them achieve their goals.

Sporting the Consult Group Hats

If you are currently at PropSki26, you have probably already spotted us. We decided to bring a little bit of extra team spirit to the mountains this year by sporting our brand new Consult Group hats! They have been an absolute hit and a fantastic conversation starter on the chairlifts.

Wearing the hats is a fun way to show our unity as a team. We operate as a deeply integrated business, and seeing our colleagues from different divisions wearing the same gear reinforces that shared identity. It also makes us incredibly easy to find in a crowd.

Visibility and Approachability

Brand visibility is important, but approachability is paramount. We want everyone at the event to feel comfortable coming over for a chat. The hats act as a cheerful, informal beacon. They signal that we are here to have a good time, meet great people, and represent Consult Group with enthusiasm and a smile.

We have already had several people come up to us simply to ask about the hats, which immediately opens the door for a brilliant introduction. It is a small detail, but it perfectly encapsulates our friendly, outgoing company culture.

Looking Forward to the Rest of the Trip

Our PropSki26 experience has been phenomenal so far, and we are only just getting started. The combination of a successful meet-and-greet, perfect skiing conditions, and the joy of catching up with old friends has made this a trip to remember. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many inspiring professionals in such a beautiful setting.

As we look ahead to the next few days, we are excited to hit more runs, attend the upcoming industry talks, and continue expanding our network. The property and construction industries are built on strong partnerships, and there is no better place to forge them than right here on the mountain.

If you are at PropSki26 and haven't bumped into us yet, please keep an eye out for the Consult Group hats! We would absolutely love to ski a run with you or grab a drink at the lodge. Let's make the most of this fantastic event and build some brilliant connections together.
