Consult Construct work for a wide range of commercial and domestic clients, across both private and public sectors, including refurbishments, new builds and extension projects.
You will work on a range of varied and interesting projects including the refurbishment of large period properties, new build housing, works to schools and other public buildings, cladding replacement works and refurbishment and conversion of care homes amongst others.
This position is open to people with previous construction and H&S knowledge and experience and who may have experience working at either a contractor or consultancy operating in the built environment. This could include candidates with experience in housing, civil engineering, building maintenance or other associated sectors.
Main duties and responsibilities
• Produce and compile CDM pre-construction information.
• To review and advise on construction phase health and safety plans provided by contractors.
• Attend construction and maintenance sites to undertake safety inspections.
• Produce and submit safety reports to contractors.
• Identify risks during the design and construction stages of a project.
• Produce and maintain design risk registers.
• Review, maintain and produce safety documentation.
• Review design drawings and highlight risks to consultants and contractors.
• Attend design and site progress meetings.
• Fulfil the company's role as Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015.
• Advise other members of the team on H&S matters and relevant changes to legislation.
• Advise clients, designers and contractors regarding their duties under the CDM regulations.
Essential Requirements
• Construction or Health & Safety related qualification, degree, HND, HNC or similar.
• NEBOSH certificate or ability to attain quickly.
• Membership of the Association for Project Safety (APS) or ability to join quickly.
• Some experience of working in the construction industry within a main contractor or consultancy.
• Be self-motivated, with excellent analytical, communication and computing skills.
• Able to work as part of a team, accepting instructions from Line Manager, but also able to work on own initiative, within pre-set parameters.
• Assist in the delivery of services to clients, accurately and on time.
• Manage time effectively, prioritising tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
• Possess a proactive and adaptable approach to work and have a strong team working ethos.
• Work in an organised and methodical manner, with a high level of attention to detail.
• Enthusiasm for the construction industry and built environment.
• Driving licence and use of own car.
